  1. Where is Camp Conestoga?
  2. Camp Conestoga is part of the Eberly Scout Reservation, located mid-way between Donegal and Somerset off Route 31, one and a half miles south of Bakersville, Pennsylvania in the beautiful Laurel Hill State Park. In addition to Camp Conestoga, Eberly Scout Reservation is the home to Camp Buck Run, the Cub Scout based camp for the Westmoreland-Fayette Council. These Scout camps have been appraised as two of the best in the country. Camp Conestoga has been in operation for nearly 60 years.

  3. Does Camp Conestoga hold any accreditations?
  4. Both Camp Conestoga and Camp Buck Run are certified annually by the Boy Scouts of America to ensure that they meet the most stringent standards, and are nothing less than the very best. Camps Conestoga and Buck Run receive an "A" rating each year.

  7. What are the housing accommodations at Camp Conestoga?
  8. All Scouts and Leaders will be staying in Boy Scout issue wide wall canvas tents on wooden platforms. Campsites are equipped with a certain number of tents and platforms based upon the number Scouts times 2 per tent. A certain number of tents in each campsite have been designated as leader's tents. Depending upon the overall camp attendance for the week some leaders may be required to share tents. There are 2 metal cots per tent. Leader's tents only have one cot per tent. It is necessary for all campers to bring cardboard or some type of padding to separate their sleeping bags from the metal springs. There is a pavilion, picnic tables, fire circle, and bulletin board located at in each campsite. Running water and bathhouses are located near each campsite.

  9. Does my Scout have to attend with a troop or can he come on his own?
  10. Your Scout can attend Camp Conestoga with his troop during their week at camp, or, he can come to camp on his own.

    Eagle Camp, held annually, is an opportunity for Scouts to come to camp on their own and participate in activities and classes geared toward completion of the Citizenship Merit Badges, as well as other Eagle Required Merit Badges such as Personal Finance and Family Life.

    Provisional Camp, available each week during the resident camp season, is open to any Scout. While at Provisional Camp, Scouts will have the opportunity to participate in all of the activities and merit badge classes offered at Camp Conestoga. A Scout may sign up for Provisional Camp as a substitute for their week at camp with their troop, or he may sign up for Provisional Camp in order to come to camp multiple weeks during the summer.

  11. How much does it cost to attend Camp Conestoga?

  13. Who will work with my Scout?
  14. All Scouts in attendance will be in the very best of hands during their stay. A National Camp School Certified Director supervises each area. Each Staff member participates in a weeklong training program to properly prepare them for their tasks. A resident Health Officer is also on site 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Nothing has been over looked! We have made sure that your Scouts will have a SAFE and FUN experience during their stay with us.

  15. What can my Scout gain by going to camp?
  16. Spending time at camp can teach your scout valuable life skills such as independence, a sense of responsibility, money management, teamwork, and an appreciation for the out of doors. Camp attendance also enables your Scout to work on merit badges and advancements.
