Laurel Highlands Trail Expedition-2013



The Westmoreland Fayette Council will be offering a Laurel Highlands Trail expedition in 2013.

Dates: June 22-29, 2013

Program: Backpack the complete Laurel Highlands Trail- 70 miles.

Cost: $175.00 per person which will include all meals, transportation to and from the Trail, Trail patch, 2 t-shirts, tents and crew equipment and shakedown hike.

Crew Organization: 12 person crew with at least two adults. Registration may be by individual or with a troop crew. Space is limited, you should register for this expedition quickly.

Scout Participants must be at least 13 years old by January 1, 2013. A completed BSA Health form is required for all participants. Daily hikes can be up to 15 miles in a day.

The participants will assemble at Camp Conestoga on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. They will begin their hike on Sunday and return on Saturday afternoon, June 29, 2013. The participants will leave Camp by 6:00 p.m. The Camp will provide a Trail Ranger to accompany the crew for the first two days. During the course of the hike the crew will do a service project for the Trail. Upon completion of the Trail the participants will have completed the hiking requirements and part of the service requirements for the 50 Miler Award. Some requirements of the Hiking and Backpacking merit Badges will be completed.

The Expedition will have a Shakedown Hike on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Camp Conestoga. The crew will meet at Camp Conestoga for training to prepare for the expedition in June.
